color outside the lines

A great way to teach kids about color, composition and photography is to challenge them to find items of a specific color throughout your house or yard. They can arrange them for a photograph or to draw. It ends up being like a scavenger hunt and they absolutely love it. Usually, they'll grab their most prized treasures so it's a great snap shot of your child through their different stages. The most difficult part of this project is getting the little artists to put all the items away!

As a joke at work I made a paper flower to decorate my neighbors cubicle...now I've pretty much taken this idea as far as it will go. The only supplies needed are scissors, a stapler and paper. You'd be bloom'n crazy not to try them! Fold the paper accordion style, staple in the center, round the edges, meet the sides together and staple. Perfect for outdoor gatherings, showers, or Birthday parties. They're super quick!

love rocks!!

A very inexpensive idea for a wedding or a shower are "love rocks", all you need are decorative or collected rocks and stamp them with acrylic paint. Apply a coat of gloss and wrap them in a small box that can be personalized according to the event by printing out your message and gluing to the lid. I made these for my brothers upcoming wedding festivities and they're so easy to transport and a lot of fun since each one is different.

This weekend was the bachelorette party of my fabulous future sister in law Jessica! The favors were very simple and so much fun. I bought t-shirts at the local craft store and stamped the letters "Team Jess" with a standard gloss acrylic paint. I wrapped the folded shirts in clear cellophane and displayed them on some fun 12x12 paper. It was a great personal touch and could be an inexpensive favor for any party!
